Reflecting back over the past year.

My oh my it’s been a year already.
When I set out to do this business a year ago, I didn’t really think I would feel the way that I do one year later.

This past year has been such an eye-opener for me. Generally I am a confident woman and I know what I’m capable of, but with this business venture I literally went in blind. I had no idea if this was going get off the ground or not. But I thought, why not just give it a try anyway.
The whole reason I started this business is because I didn’t see anything on the market that looked like me or had my art style. I saw a gap and I was like boom, “I need to take up space.”

As you may or may not know, I launched By Candice Chenade on Etsy marketplace & I have over 1600 sales and counting on there. Etsy is really good for me, especially when trying to reach customers overseas. With that being said, one of my biggest achievements was launching my own website. I had zero website building skills and if I’m honest building it was a breeze (I use Shopify & I highly recommend.) As well as launching my own website I have been a vendor at many black owned markets and pop-up shops. I still have more event dates coming up this summer. 🎉

I have so many plans including starting a YouTube channel where I'll share my day-to-day life as a brand-new small business owner so be sure to subscribe if that's something that you're interested in.

Honestly not every day has been a breeze and not every day feels like I’m doing great. I’m a full-time mum so trying to juggle being mum, small being business owner, boss b*tch business woman, illustrator & trying to find time to take care of me does come with its frustrations. But I’ll get into that another time.
